A Pause – To Unite in Patriotism

My wife Karri and I decided to meet from our disparate paths at LZ Lambeau in Green Bay, a three day event designed to recognize and honor Vietnam War veterans, those living, those lost, and those missing in action. As has been the benchmark of my grassroots campaign, I mingled, met and listened to many veterans. An estimated 70,000 people attended over the 3 days last weekend and 26,000 tickets were dispersed for the special Saturday evening tribute. The LZ Lambeau Honor Ride drew 1,244 motorcycles to pay tribute to the Wisconsin service people who were killed in action or who are still missing, 1,244 – despite the Friday rains. Unity of feeling, Unity in caring – an event noted nationwide as a belated “welcome home” in an atmosphere both festive and sad. One of the biggest attractions was a giant map of Vietnam on which many wrote messages or stories about friends lost in the war. Guys cried – Karri and I shared our own tears.

Service to our great country and honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice goes far beyond political platforms and philosophies. Patriotism does not fall under Republican, Democratic, or Independent campaigning.  It lies in that tight swell felt in the chest when a gathering resounds in one voice with God Bless America. It clings to that teardrop slipped quietly from an observing eye as a Marine plays taps beneath a half-mast flag, and it echoes in the silence as a President places a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We must recognize and we must never forget those who served and those who serve. Over 1,100 Wisconsinites died or are missing in action in Vietnam.

My campaign is, always has been, about people – people who need to be heard and who need to be heeded by the state government. The unemployed, the farmers, the good citizens denied marriage rights, the Hispanic, Asian, and Black communities, the veterans – every citizen in this great state needs to know that their elected governor has heard and will respond to their concerns, to their problems, and to their needs. I extend my hand to people - in any nook and cranny, on any rolling hillside, or adrift on any waterway - in greeting and as a gesture of openness to listen for ideas that can return Wisconsin to the forefront, to its place as a beacon of hope for the country. We see and hear how people respond to our messages – from walks in the inner city, from meet and greets, from programs like Ed Garvey held in Chippewa Falls, to the LZ at Lambeau. But I need to be available to MORE who need to be heard and I need your help.

Every brochure handed out, every pin stuck on a lapel gets my name a little more “out there” – I am thankful to all who carry the banner to the people! But, mainstream media doesn’t seem to notice my growing voice, doesn’t seem to notice that another candidate “rides the donkey” and runs the race for Madison. I need your financial support to help gain broader recognition in the media as I to step forward into an even more visible presence. My grass roots have sprouted and been fertilized with growing bonds I make with the citizenry of Wisconsin; now is the time for the roots and the sprouts to spread and grow into the foundation needed to get us to our goal. “We stride forward in unison” – please consider donations and volunteering through our website information that explains how to become part of our race.

Our newest YouTube video compares Miller High Life (A beer my family created.) with Leinenkugel's, another great Wisconsin beer. See it at www.youtube.com/timjohnforgovernor.

"Drivin' the lane, Makin' the gain" - Hello Wisconsin!

As I hip hop across your YouTube screen, the number of viewers climb with the rhythm of our campaign! Look it up on our website or at YouTube at www.youtube.com/timjohnforgovernor. Enjoy all of our campaign videos. I hope more and more watch and then forward them to family, friends, and acquaintances.

I won't change the tune of my platform - creating employment opportunities for black males, returning the right to sell products, especially raw milk, to the farmers of this great dairy state, and making marriage available for everybody.  With your help, we can make this "dance" a state-wide phenomenon. While we take all issues seriously, we think improving the state of Wisconsin can be done with a smile.

Once again I will be venturing out with my ideas, this time northward to join the Fighting Bob Fest North Fundraiser. Ed Garvey will MC the program at the Northern Wisconsin Fair Grounds in Chippewa Falls and I would like you to join us in the fight to give all of us a fair shake. The May 22 (next Saturday) event from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. will focus on the current crisis in campaign funding in light of Citizens United v. FEC.

"I wouldn't be surprised," says Mr. Garvey, "if candidates for Dave Obey's seat, governor, U.S. Senate, and Attorney General drop in, too." There might be some dancing to the local music of The Jones Tones, Left Wing Bourbon, the Evergreen Grass Bank, and more! I'll bet, in the face of this serious issue, some smiles will be shared over charcoal chicken and barbecue pork dinners - a delicious fund raiser in its own right.

Please help us hand out brochures in your neighborhood and contribute to our worthy campaign. With our mission to "stride forward in unison," we need feet to dance with us and finances to support us - click here for detailed information on volunteering and/or contributing.

With your help, we will become the "Beacon of Hope" for Wisconsin and the country.

Aloha,

Traveling throughout Wisconsin is a great undertaking, rain or shine. We just returned from a western and northwestern swing through Mineral Point, Dodgeville, Platteville, Viroqua, Chippewa Falls, Baraboo and lots of other wonderful places. What amazing people we met; Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike.

No wonder that my Great Grandfather Fred Miller, the founder of Miller Brewery, settled in Wisconsin.

A drive around our Great State reminds me of our potential for greatness. The right leadership will get us there.

Believe it or not. Our Tim John for Governor Campaign is the first one to create a hip hop video. Me in a hip hop video? Get ready to smile or even laugh. Look it up at YouTube at www.youtube.com/timjohnforgovernor. Enjoy all of our campaign videos.

We are sticking with our plans to reduce unemployment among Wisconsin's black men, legalize the sale of raw milk, and make marriage available for everybody.

Please remember that we have promotional flyers that you can distribute to friends and family. Just ask us for some.

Let's send Wisconsin rocketing towards greatness.

Hello Friends,

As I rub the fatigue out of my eyes, a new week dawns on the Tim John for Governor Campaign.

After a show on Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR), a march for immigrant rights, an explanation of business cooperatives to reduce unemployment among black men, and a remembrance of historical anti-union violence, we have had a busy stretch.

Our tank is full and we are gaining speed.

Please review our newest YouTube video on the WRP interview at www.youtube.com/timjohnforgovernor. (Listen to the WPR interview at their archives website.)

Our YouTube videos are always fun; guaranteed to make you smile. Spread them to your family and friends!

My solitary campaign promise remains; I will work hard for the interests of the people of Wisconsin.

The Saturday march for immigrant rights saw me speaking a lot of Spanish and English with hard-working, law-abiding residents. Wisconsin is comprised of over 5.5 million people of all races, religions, and language groupings, giving us a strong vibrant future.

The Tim John for Governor Campaign listens to everyone.

My wife, Karri, spoke enthusiastically at the Time-Out luncheon sponsored by Wounded Wings, an organization that mentors single parents. The positive response was thrilling. Get her to speak at your function.

Please help our campaign give poor and working class Wisconsinites a voice in our state's affairs. Energized people will make our state even greater. Help me make it happen. Join the Tim John for Governor Campaign!

We have lots of attractive campaign flyers to distribute so please contact us at (414) 273-2010 to do just that.

Let's send Wisconsin rocketing towards greatness.
